October was one of the busiest months of the year. Several studios moved their launches up to avoid the GTA VI date. Highlights include Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered and Ghost of Yōtei: Complete Edition (October 1), Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve (October 2), Aion 2 on PC (October 5) and Gears of War: E-Day (October 6, Xbox Series and PC). Then came Castlevania: Belmont's Curse (October 15), Final Fantasy Resonance (October 22) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (October 23).
PlayRecon counted about 3,890 dated October releases on Steam, 22% more than the same period in 2025 (figure from October 27).
Our take: with this much coming out, pick one or two games and leave the rest for the sales.
