Xbox Insiders test local search and more personalization

Xbox announced new Insider tests on September 9, including local search in game and achievement lists and personalization options. The post also describes a higher-quality Remote Play preview for specified groups.

These are less dramatic changes than a new console, but potentially important for large libraries. Finding the right game quickly reduces the distance between switching on and playing. For developers, it is a direct example of navigation improving everyday use without changing the underlying content.

Preview status needs to remain visible: the announcement is not an immediate release for every user. The listed groups have different access, and experimental features can change. Before searching for a missing setting, check the eligible channel and device.

We did not participate in this test or benchmark streaming. Our take is to watch search clarity and how easily settings can be found. If the update reaches your account, record the version and scenario when evaluating it; that produces more useful feedback than simply calling an interface better or worse.
